Sohrab Khushrushahi: workouts at home and on the bike

What are some of the smartest ways to sneak a workout into your WFH schedule? And how can you plan a workout around outdoor cycling?

Smart home workout

Given my busy schedule, I plan to buy some equipment – a treadmill etc. – which will help me stay in shape as I now have a permanent WFH. What should I choose if I want to invest in just one thing?

—Shikhaa, via email

I would say invest in a bunch of DBs or resistance bands instead. Choose weights according to your level. A treadmill is expensive and takes up a lot of space. Your spouse or parents may not be very happy with the investment, so be smart. I also think it’s important to work on your strength rather than focusing all your energy on cardio work. You can do it by walking around anyway.

Cycling in town

I am someone who loves cycling. Where and how can I incorporate it into my training as I live in the heart of the city in this sweltering heat?

—Lavanya, Via Instagram

Today many people have become avid cyclists. Considering the crazy traffic we have in our cities and the heat followed by the monsoons, I would say get well equipped first and then start leaving early in the morning. You will avoid heat and traffic. I wouldn’t really cycle every day, two to three times a week is fine.
